The sharks must have been just as eager to see me as I was to see them after 3 weeks vacation, as we had them instantly around the boat today before the cage was even set up! It was a 3.5m male who showed up first and provided some very graceful passes throughout the entire first trip and an impressive jump on the bait line. Our largest shark of the day was an eye-popping 4.7m female who only gave us one pass but made it memorable, almost using the cage for a belly rub! But it was our second largest shark who really made an impact today, a female around 4.5m who was giving most of the close passes throughout the second trip. She is easily identifiable as she has an old wound on her dorsal fin, which is entirely healed, but has led to the majority of her the dorsal fin being completely flopped over.  The fact that this shark has managed to keep swimming with good speed and clearly been a successful hunter based on both her size and survival is just another reminder of how incredible and adaptable these majestic creatures really are…
