Sunny skies greeted us again this morning as we headed to the back of Geyser Rock for our dive today. We had a slow start but it was well worth the wait when our first shark turned up which was “Little Lumpy” a small individual known to us due to the distinctive lump from an old bite wound on the left side of its trunk. “Little Lumpy” was interested enough to stick around for most of the morning before the other sharks arrived. We were also visited by a sub-adult sized satellite tagged shark and a new addition in the form of a large female with fresh looking teeth marks on the right side of her trunk above the pectoral fins. Before anchoring at our dive site this afternoon we headed to Shark Alley for a closer look at Geyser Rock and were able to get very close to some of its pinnipeds inhabitants sunning themselves on the rock! The sharks this afternoon were nothing short of amazing. We had a number of larger individuals, with the largest being just a bit smaller than the size of the cage our divers were viewing the sharks from. Not only was it the great sizes of the sharks on our second trip it was how active these larger sharks were. Generally our smaller sharks are our “flying” sharks however today our larger individuals were popping up all over the place including “Malcolm X” and our large parasite covered male! It looks like the big sharks were out to show us all what they’ve got…
