Wowzers! What a fantastic morning out in the shallows! We launched early this morning to beat some bad weather coming in this afternoon. We arrived and had anchored when the first shark came cruising in behind us. This was just the start of it with many different Great Whites coming by. Our largest shark sighted for the day was approximately 3.7m in length and was the first one on the scene, after this the smaller sharks ruled the rest of the trip and whilst they may be smaller they have great activity around the boat. We saw one of our named, famed and favourites today, with “Little Lumpy”, wowing those on board with her speed, agility and sneak approaches! Towards the end of the trip we had a Short-tailed Stingray glide up and have its own moment amongst the many Great Whites we saw. As if to bid us goodbye, one of our sharks breached only meters away from the side of the boat as we were packing up to leave, this can be seen happening if something underneath it has spooked it or it has seen a shadow on top of the water such as a bird flying by, a very nice last view of a shark for those on board who witnessed it! On our way back to the harbour we spotted some Humpback Dolphins, a small pod with approximately 6 individuals including a mother and calf. A great ending to a great morning out on the water…
