Conditions: Beautiful sunshine with a bit of a swell. Wind picking up through the afternoon.
After two no sea days due to bad weather, it was great to get back on the water. We had two trips this day, with our first trip launching at 7 AM. It didn’t take long before we had our first shark! This was a 3.0 meter female named “Mandy” with a very large black scar across her dorsal side just behind the dorsal fin. She was soon accompanied by “Emma,” a 4.0 meter female with two vertical scars on her left side. The third shark was “3-bird” a highly active 2.7 meter female. As soon as she left, “Sarko” came to visit. “Sarko” is a 2.5 meter female. It was amazing to see so many familiar faces, and we know that these sharks were able to survive another year of migration and hopefully continue to do so throughout their entire lives. Our second trip had no wait time, with “3-bird” approaching the boat as we finished securing the cage to the side. Within one hour, 5 different sharks came to the boat! Another that we know is “Mandy,” returning again. “Mandy” has been in the area for the past couple of weeks and she is a very graceful shark that loves to constantly go for the seal decoy and bait. She is always an amazing shark to see! We hope that everyone enjoyed seeing her and that she stays around a bit longer before she continues her migration!
