A late start today as we tried to let the wind and swell from earlier on in the day decrease before we headed out onto the water. Once out at the Island we had a half an hour wait for the first shark to be spotted but this wait just helped to build the anticipation for that first sighting! This first shark happened to be an impressively sized female with some distinctive white markings. Not long after more sharks arrived including a female with what may be a propeller injury on the right side of her trunk. This is not the first time we have seen this injury, the good news is that it appears to be healing over well. The largest shark of the day was a 4.2m individual that came cruising in dominating with its size, a truly impressive sight! One of the fantastic things about diving at the Island in our Winter season is the amazing bird life seen around the boat today that included but was not limited to Cape gannets, White chinned petrels, Giant petrels and an Albatross.
