This morning was off to a slow start, but once we were settled the activity was great. The first shark arrived quickly and was the largest of the trip with a male just over 4.0m in length appearing but unfortunately disappearing soon after as did the second shark. Luckily things started to heat up with the arrival of our third shark, “Mini Rosie” the 3.5m female named due to the naturally occuring white pigmentation seen on her dorsal fin which we refer to as rosie. She stuck around for much of the trip and was joinined by another of our well known animals “Sellendilloh” a male that re-appeared around our boat just a few days ago after a four month absence from the bay. This male is not only well known to us but to many along the South African coastline and even worldwide as he is part of Ocearch’s tagging program and was fitted with a SPOT tag in 2012. More information, photographs and his tracking data can be seen on their website here. Whilst it was a slow start and an overcast day the shark sightings we had really brightened things up.
