Conditions: Strong east winds but little to no swell.
We took to the water early this morning after having a day off with some stronger weather conditions pushing through the area yesterday. The conditions had calmed down and once on anchor we had a relatively comfortable trip with just a bit of a chilly breeze and due to the strong easterly winds over the last few days a bit of a drop in the water temperature.
The first trip saw our current regular visitors show up, the Copper sharks! They came thick and fast with approximately four to five different individuals appearing, most of which were some of the largest we have seen over the last 8-12 weeks. We also had a Short-tailed stingray around, sticking deep but towards the end broke the waters’ surface giving us a nice view.
The second trip of the day launched and had Copper sharks around just as quickly as the first, with many of the previous trips animals returning, easily identified by the bite scars on the head and tail sections of the sharks. The Short-tailed stingray appeared again for our new group of visitors.
Unfortunately, no White sharks seen today, we are getting ever closer to two weeks without the White sharks being sighted in the area, we hope we have some good news soon. In the meantime we would like to say a big thank you to those that take the chance and for their patience and understanding.
