Sightings: Bronze whalers, Short-tailed Stingray

Location: Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: Cold

Visibility: Poor

A little sleepy but super excited we started our trip. Even though it was a little choppy coming out of the harbour it was nice and calm at the Shallows, our anchor spot. We quickly changed into our wetsuits and started to wait for the chum sleek to attract the sharks in the area. Just as everyone were ready and geared up our first Copper sharks started circling the boat. Our divers climbed into the cage and had some really nice close passes. We were also entertained by a Cape gannet diving right in front of the boat trying and succeeding in catching small schooling fish. A short-tail stingray also surfaced multiple times impressing us with its size.

As the wind died out we headed out for our second trip. Once we got to our dive location in the Shallows, our guests quickly geraed up and were ready to start their shark cage diving experience. We had some really nice shark activity with coppers sharks giving us some really close passes. A short-tailed stingray also made an appearence with him going for our baits. Once everyone had their chance in the cage we were ready to head back to the harbour and enjoy some soup and bread back at the Great White House.
