Sightings:  Great White Sharks, Bronze whalers, Cape Fur seal, Short tailed Stingray, Bryde’s whale

Location: Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: Moderate

Visibility: Moderate

We started our day with Gansbaai launch today, as the water was just too low for us to launch from Kleinbaai. The conditions were nice and calm and the sky was just extra pretty today. As soon as we got to the Shallows our divers geared up and were ready to jump into the cage as soon as we got our first copper sharks, who didn’t make us wait for too long. The sharks were quite active giving our divers some nice passes. When our second cage was enjoying some copper sharks, we heard a rumour that there is a white shark in the area, so we’d decided to move anchor in order to show it to our guests. And as soon as we anchored, we were lucky enough to spot Shaun the great white shark, a 3.3m male who has been in this area for the last couple of weeks. A short tailed stingray also made an appearance impressing everyone with its size. Just as we were heading back to the harbour, our skipper spotted a Bryde’s whale, and there was an African Penguin resting at the surface. Al in all an incredible trip with some unexpected sightings.

For our second trip we approached our cage and quickly relocated to boost our chances of seeing a great white. Our first sharks were a couple of copper sharks! So our first group got into the cage and then up came Shaun the Great White! He was with us for our first two cages, and he gave us some awesome activity throughout his time with us. He gave our divers both on the boat and in the cage some fantastic opportunities for some pictures. We finished up the trip with more copper sharks a seal and a stingray! Triple S Diving!
