Waking up early is not nice, waking up to a overcast, drizzling day is is even worse but when it means the chance of seeing a White shark then it becomes much easier! We headed out very early this morning due to the tides and were on anchor in the Geldsteen by 7:25am, and stayed there until close to 9:00am when we decided to try our luck in the Shallows after no sightings out near the Island. Once in the Shallows we only had minutes to wait till a shark was spotted and what a shark it was! A large male, approximately 4.2m in length, and one that we know very well, “Tiger”, named so because of the scars that were left on his head and sides by what is most likely another shark! “Tiger” was last seen in the bay back in mid June 2015. Welcome back “Tiger”, it is fantastic to see such a large animal back in the area after the last month, this animal is by far the largest we have seen in four weeks. This large male did not stick around for long, taking a few passes by the cage before heading off and unfortunately not returning to our boat. We also had the Short-tailed stingrays around the boat for most of our trip in the Shallows. We feel so lucky to be able to see such an amazing animal today and hope that the sighting of a new individual in the bay is a sign that more sharks will be heading our way…
